A well written short story. Characters and worldview were, unlike many short stories, complete. The author has a talent for descriptive verbiage and engaging the reader. An altogether pleasant read and I could see this story becoming a series using this same format. Well done, author, well done.Product details

Of all of the Alma Venus Valentine's Day shorts, this one was my favorite! Astrid is one sexy, cool, and intimidating dragon shifter who's lived thousands of years and hasn't found her true mate; James Harington is the man behind the shifter venom cure that now keeps shifter-human families together. Their story is a unique one because it tells the story of a female shifter falling in love with a human male while previous Alma Venus stories focused more on male shifter/female human or shifter/shifter relationships. It's beautiful and romantic, and I would say that IF you only wanted to read one of Cara Wyld's 4 Valentine's Day novellas, this should be the one. (But I recommend reading them all.)
Astrid and James' story is to predictable for me, they meet, know quite a bit about each other as his sister is mated to her brother. She's a dragon shifter female who can't have babies, so most should fters refuse to mate with fer or any other female shifter ( when a human hybrid can give them the best if bith worlds). Also ng comes James a man who knows the score as he's been studying it for years. I like that Astrid found a man to love her, i just wish their had been a twist, some type of intrigue ( maybe he was working on a way for female shifters to get pregnant with inly human male hybrids), something to give it that oomph or ah ha moment . Definitely a sweet Valentine read with some hot sex and a hapily ever after. 3⭐'s . And i will definitely be reading the next book. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
The Alma Venus world expands again with another Valentines Day based novella.
Astrid is a dragon shifter and sister to Viggo. She is in London to meet with James Harrington, her brother in law by marriage. He is looking for investors to further research the antidotes to make mates for shifters into hybrids.
She's not quite sure what to make of her feelings towards antidotes. She is a female shifter, those of her clan can't reproduce with her and she can't imagine mating with someone who was not equal to her. Then she meets James. Sweet, intensely hot, slightly nerdy James. He is not be your stereotypical mad scientist and the chemistry is intense and hot.
I did feel a bit annoyed with Astrid as she didn't want a mate of lower financial standing than her. I can understand she didn't want a freeloader but would she really rule out love because he was in the wrong income bracket?!?!?!?! James was well matched with Astrid as he was a child of privilege also.
This is the final book in these short stories in this series (or is it?). This is a fast-paced and standalone story that kept me engaged throughout the whole book. It is full of hilarious moments that will have you laughing your head off.
Astrid is part of the Drekinn Clan and a Dragon shifter too. She has gone to London for her brother and Alpha because it seems the twins have ruined a whole wing in the castle and their mother is now scared that they to burn down the castle so both of their fathers are keeping an eye on them. Which leaves Astrid to go to Harington Pharmaceuticals to keep the meeting with James Harington.
James Harington is a human and a genius. He invented the cure for shifters and their human brides so that they can mate and have children. He works for the family pharmaceutical company. When he mets with Astrid it was all about funding but it was proving to be much more than that for James.
Read this book and watch the sparks fly between them. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and this review is my own opinion.
I really enjoy the Alma Venus world that Ms. Wylde created and the Valentine series of stories that allowed me to visit that world again. I hate that the female shifters are unable to have children but there are so many unwanted children in the real world that I would assume it occurs within my beloved stories. I can relate to Astrid's longings when thinking of her nephews. I also think it is ironic that she falls for her sister in law's brother too. I hope to hear more of Astrid and James in future stories featuring the Alma Venus world.
Astrid is sent to Harrison Pharmaceuticals to represent her Alpha and beta which is her brother. She needs to get more information regarding the funding request that they sent to her alpha Eric. James is the son of Arthur who created the anti venom for the brides hr wants to focus on dragon and eagle shifters so he puts his best foot forward despite nearly stumbling when he first sees Astrid. I highly recommend this story.
I voluntarily read an advance copy and I sincerely wish my finances would allow me to purchase my own copy.
Great book
A dragon shifter checks out a drug company that help with a cure to shifter venom, a drug company's representative that gives a tour of the company, there is much more to the story but you have to read to find out.
